Introducing Butter: Our Well-Loved and Trusted Therapy Dog

Introducing the Wonderful Butters: Our Very Own Therapy Dog

At Focus Eyecare, we believe in creating a safe, welcoming space in our practice. We want to provide our patients with an environment that allows them to leave feeling better and more peaceful than when they walked in. An easy favorite of our practice comes in the form of a furry friend named Butter – Butter is our resident therapy dog who leaves everyone feeling calm, happy and quite frankly astounded by his cuteness.

Who is Butter? IMG 9540

Butter may not be an eye doctor, but he is an irreplaceable member of the Focus Eyecare family. Butter crawls into the hearts of all our patients with his gentle spirit, expressive eyes, and a wagging tail that never seems to stop, Butter has a special way of making everyone feel at ease. No matter the procedure you come in for, whether it’s an eye exam or a more advanced treatment, Butter will be by your side.

How Butter Supports Our Patients

Therapy dogs have always been an incredible addition to people’s lives, helping people with chronic illness by alerting them before they experience an onset to helping those with anxiety navigate busy and overwhelming spaces. Butter is no different as his presence helps to alleviate stress, making patients—especially children—feel more comfortable during their visits. His calm demeanor, friendly face and wagging tail bring everyone who meets him a little more joy and peace during their visit.

Butter’s Role in Vision Therapy

Vision therapy can sometimes feel quite intense, it’s a highly engaging process that requires focus and perseverance. Butter’s role is to provide emotional support, helping patients stay calm and engaged during their therapy exercises. His presence has a soothing effect, which can make a significant difference in a patient’s progress.

Whether he’s sitting quietly beside a patient or offering a reassuring paw during a difficult exercise, Butter’s presence helps to create a more enjoyable and productive therapy session. His ability to connect with patients on an emotional level often leads to better outcomes, as patients feel more motivated and less stressed.

A Day in the Life of Butter

Butter’s day at Focus Eyecare is usually full of greeting and comforting patients of all ages. He moves seamlessly between helping patients choose the perfect frames, optical exams and vision therapy sessions, offering his unique brand of comfort and companionship. For some, just having Butter nearby is enough to make their day a little brighter.

Our patients love Butter, and many look forward to seeing him as much as they do their appointments. His friendly face and wagging tail are a testament to the ethos of Focus Eyecare, where we believe in eyecare as an all-encompassing process focused on the care and overall wellbeing of each patient.
